Introduction
The Graduate Program in Ecology (PPGECO), at master’s and PhD levels, aims to contribute attitudes, concepts, techniques and methodologies to develop research and subsidize debates that, incorporated into professional qualification, seek to respond to current challenges in the environmental field.
The program is currently rated 5 in CAPES’ quadrennial evaluation [2017-2020]
The PPGECO offers a solid education to academics, qualifying them for teaching at higher education level, for research and as professionals specializing in Ecology, also collaborating with public policies and/or products that favour the management or conservation of ecological systems.
The program is organized into an integrated set of disciplines, research, extension and academic activities, including a multidisciplinary field course, international disciplines, teaching experience and, recently, scientific dissemination activities.
Some activities involve all students and professors, graduates and participants from outside the program in a cordial atmosphere and intense scientific discussions.
During the Academic Week of the Graduate Program in Ecology (SAPECO), we discuss science, projects and results, and academics present in a “3-minute Talk” format. As for the Winter Course in Ecology, students have the opportunity to teach ecology classes to undergraduates and develop the ability to organize events.
We are surrounded by lush nature, different ecosystems and great social diversity. The program is concerned with environmental sustainability and social inclusion in all its activities.
