The Coordination of the Graduate Program in Ecology (PPG Ecology) of the Center for Biological Sciences at the Federal University of Santa Catarina announces that applications will be open from July 15 to August 3, 2026, for the selection process to establish a waiting list for up to two (02) Master’s scholarships and up to two (02) PhD scholarships under the Graduate Program Funding Initiative of Higher Education Institutions in the State of Santa Catarina, supported by the Foundation for Research and Innovation Support of the State of Santa Catarina (FAPESC).
This notice is issued in response to the publication and strictly follows the guidelines established in FAPESC Public Calls No. 43/2026 and No. 44/2026, which provide for the allocation of scholarships for Graduate Programs.

Enrollment period for regular students: July 16–20 – Online enrollment in courses offered by the Graduate Program through the Graduate Academic Management System (CAPG – Sistema de Controle Acadêmico da Pós-Graduação): www.capg.ufsc.br
Enrollment for students from other UFSC Graduate Programs: Starting July 22 – Enrollment requests from students enrolled in other UFSC Graduate Programs will be accepted. There is no deadline for submitting requests. Requests should be sent to: academico.sipg@contato.ufsc.br
Enrollment as a non-degree student (external applicants or UFSC undergraduate students): July 29–31 – Period for submitting requests to enroll in individual graduate courses through the Graduate Academic Management System (CAPG – Sistema de Controle Acadêmico da Pós-Graduação).

We congratulate our PhD student, João Paulo de Oliveira Xavier, from our Graduate Program in Ecology, on his participation in the 8th GEF Assembly (Global Environment Facility), held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, in early June 2026.
Fifteen fellows from the FUNBIO Fonseca Leadership Program were selected, with only two Brazilian fellows participating through support provided by the FUNBIO Scholarships Program – Conserving the Future. The initiative aims to develop a new generation of conservation leaders.

The nominee for the 2026 CAPES Thesis Award in the field of Biodiversity has been selected!
The internal committee of the UFSC Graduate Program in Ecology, composed of Professors Cristiano de Campos Nogueira, Marta Jussara Cremer, and Paulo Horta, reviewed the theses submitted by graduates who completed their PhDs in 2025 and selected the thesis of Dr. Isadora Cord Pessoa Ferreira, entitled “Tracking Patterns, Revealing Processes: Evolutionary Perspectives and Future Scenarios in the Marine Biogeography of the Atlantic,” supervised by Professor Sergio Floeter, to represent our Graduate Program in Ecology in the 2026 CAPES Thesis Award.

O Centro de Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina REPUDIA VEEMENTEMENTE quaisquer tentativas de fragilizar a legitimidade das unidades de conservação municipais de Florianópolis e, mais especificamente, de questionar o processo de criação e os limites das UCs Refúgio de Vida Silvestre Municipal Meiembipe e Refúgio de Vida Silvestre Municipal do Morro do Lampião, o que vem sendo feito pela Comissão Parlamentar Especial (CPE das unidades de conservação), instituída na Câmara de Vereadores de Florianópolis, tanto por meio de um Relatório Preliminar elaborado pela CPE quanto por ata da 8ª reunião ordinária da mesma CPE.
